Sleepless Nights

I found myself once again on the cusp of a night with little or no sleep. probably little, but i'm just feeling optimistic since i hit my second wind, so to speak.

and it hasn't really hit me that lovebound is like...TOMOROW
and that I'm actually going back to michigan on sunday. I'm not used to that during the winter, the awkward greetings and yeah, did I really have to go visit them? Just Kidding. Well it should be fun, but there goes my goal of getting ahead on work and doing key id's

and if i didnt spend time on this site and like, facebook, i probably couldve made a bigger dent into that essay, or that lab, or those tests i have tomorow...

offf i go

why do i procrastinate

Jesse Chou will NOT be going to New York

rough time line:

-summer: cousin says we're gona travel over winter break
-october: cousin says we're gona go to hong kong
-november: cousin says we're going to new york
-december: cousin says they're just going to be staying home, aka I'll just be going to michigan. which definitely is not as glamorous but i guess its time to reconnect w/ the ol' relatives

just without the new york and hong kong. this trip has gotten less and less novel and soon ill just be goin to torrance

yearbook editors vs. janitors round 1

Wow, yearbook has been crazy lately, trying to track down the businesses, but they get suuuper elusive whenever they need to pay or sign a contract >< doh!
so with a huge deadline last friday and proofs being due today, life was just peachy. So today, rush into yearbook, after school, frantically frantic.

Today only Joseph, Shannon and I were left, whenMiss Dunlap had to leave, so we take the necessary precautions: we turn off all the lights, pull all our backpacks into the back room and each of us tiredly huddle over our dim macs, feverishly working on our layouts. Suddenly the main door swings open, and I lazily mutter "janitor's here..." and what happened next was a blur, suddenly Jo and Shannon were under the desks, crouching as if we were doing a fire drill...?! shoot, my mac screen was facing the door ( we were in the back room that has like paneled windows but the curtains were'nt full drawn) so I put the monitor flat down but I'm just like holding it there?! i didnt wana like break the super expensive thing that passes as a computer, but I had to hide too!...fail. At a certain point, I just threw the mac's safety to the wind and dove under the desk.

by this time, the classroom lights were on..

> silence<

shannon: this is fun!

>silence<

lights turn on

collective sigh of relief

BOOM!j;lskdnfs'!@!!! Door to back room swings open! and light floods the room

"DO YOU GUYS THINK I'M STUPID?! I'VE BEEN DOING THIS FOR 8 YEARS, I KNOW HOW YOU YEARBOOK PPL WORK! I HAVE 5 KIDS IN COLLEGE...!!@!!!" and then a barrage of words, though I was able to make out... "all right, we're all going down to the principals! you guys think you're so smart?! i cant believe you'd actually try to hide!!@! I'm smart ya know!! maybe even smarter than you guys!!@!" eventually..."all right, just get out of here, i never wana see you three again!"

needless to say, we three bolted out of there. sigh, so thats my moment of excitement for the day,but seriously it was a LOT more exciting than i made it seem, im bad at story telling. Though it did remind me of stories of how crazy old yearbook editors used to be. like when john kim used to sneak into the yearbook room at night, climbing the fence and evading janitors.

btw, we've been caught before, but just hasn't been this intense. But on friday, when i was leaving after deadlines at like 5,6ish, school was extremely dark, except for some glimmers of light, but right when I exit the room, janitor was waiting in the shadows....?! so eerie, and I wouldve run, but I couldnt even see the steps, so i kinda hobbled/ran....yeah

round one goes to the janitors for scare tactics and catching us

Give thanks

wow, i was definitely going to give out a list of work that i have to do, because it seems like this thanksgiving break, I just have a lot of homework to do (like a lot of other people), but if if I were to be honest with myself, I DO have a lot to give thanks for. Tonight, Uncle Rob reminded us that we tend to take things for granted, such as our health and family, until they're gone, and also that we can be like children who receive their gifts(blessings) Christmas morning while forgetting the parents(God) that gave them, which is why Thanksgiving has the opportunity to be such a cool time of remembrance and gratitude, though I guess that aspect is usually overlooked by the turkey and food and feasting aspect, kinda like Christmas and gift-giving.

For example, even though i live in a super tiny, cramped apartment, i can give thanks that I have a place to live at all and don't really have to worry about food (except at school when I never have money). And it's not like I'm just settling, like when we're at church and for some reason, instead of dr. pepper, there's "dr. skipper" (hmm) and we're just like, "o well, dr. skipper's better than nothing." but it's like I can be genuinely grateful.

Anyway, I know at least for me, thanksgiving has been kind of watered down in a sense just because get caught up in like the food/turkey/"yay pilgrims" aspect, while for the Pilgrims it was about giving thanks to God for his provision. I know for me, that's definitely one thing lacking in my prayer life, the whole "catpis" aspect is usually lost on me, as I'll pray for people and things, while not giving thanks nearly enough, and like if u look at the screen at church on friday nights, the "thanksgivings" list is usually fairly shorter than the other list of things/people to pray for as well.

"Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you" (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18).

And of course, we'll always have reason to give thanks for God's love and how He's showed it to us through the gift of His Son, Christ. While we're sinful humans, rejecting God and deserving just that, an eternity without God, we can have, what?, eternal life through Jesus Christ? I can't adequately convey the awesomeness of His grace and love, so....I'll just end with this. As days go on, and more bad things happen, we'll always have things that we'll wana complain about but I feel like just as much, or even more, is there for us to give thanks for, material or spiritual. I mean, even if something isn't "good," all you really have to do is romans 8:28 it, and think about that "bad thing" one more time.

In conclusion, I encourage us to give thanks because God is good (all day, everyday)

Saturday School

Wow, it's a high crime to make people go to school on saturdays...SATURDAY SCHOOl...dun dun dun

actually it wasnt that bad, except for when i show up at...7:30AM! it was like impossible to find the room because it was room 100 and they only have 200,300 and 400 buildings. fail. but the proctor lady was nice and I actually got a lot of work done, a pretty heavy start on APUSH key id's, read the Bio chapters, and took a practice SAT. pretty um..productive, wow. yeah, and the way people made it sound, i thought I'd be like locked in an ominous room with a super strict, draconian dragon and with like hardcore criminals that like killed people or graffitied the town, but actually it was mostly just underclassmen from pv that were tardy like me. well one guy got caught trying to go off campus for lunch, but, yeah...hardcore criminals..but i feel bad for them for not takin the opportunity, one guy was like drumming his hands the entire time, and trying not to get caught sleeping.

then we left early, and it went by super fast too, wow. and later, volunteer was super hard...
having to scream the bingo numbers at hard of hearing senior citizens with a dying throat, noo

why was today so cold...why did i have to go to saturday school...and there's SUNDAY SCHOOl tomorow too! ^^
